Hempstead County Historical Society Meeting -- Fanny Block

The Hempstead County Historical Society will be holding a meeting on Tuesday evening June 26, 2018 at the Presbyterian Church in Washington, Arkansas at 7pm. Everyone is welcome.

The evening program will be presented by Washington resident Bobbye Henry. Mrs. Henry is a regular volunteer at Historic Washington State Park and does a program for visitors as Mrs. Fannie Block of Washington. Fannie Block was the wife of the first documented Jewish settler in Arkansas. The house the Blocks lived in still stands in Washington and is part of the tour program. The evening program will include a demonstration of Mrs. Henry’s program at the Block House in Washington.

The Historical Society seeks to bring awareness to the rich heritage and history of Hempstead County. Come and share your history with us.
